Today was the day of ALL days! My most monumentos day in Denmark thus far. Why may you ask? Well, I found my other half...my bike, Henerik.
He is beautiful and white, his left butt cheek (what some may refer to as the seat or his GC) is a little smooshed in, he has a bell, 3 gears, and even has a basket! He was named Henerik after the Danish man at the bike shop who helped me pick him out and he is absolutely perfect.
The Danes LIVE on bikes. Walking around Copenhagen you have to watch out for the bike traffic more than car traffic. You honestly see hundreds, probably more like thousands, of bikes a day. As I biked home to Hillerød, I couldn't stop pedaling past everyone with a massive grin (probably scaring them all, as Danes don't interact on the streets). With Frederik, I finally feel like a Dane and I have a bike again!
Courtney, Anne Randolph and I's designated "Third Roomate" from New Hampshire, came and also got a bike! She named her bike Barbie. It's pink!
Courtney and I took Barbie and Frederik on the Metro like pro's, the only problem was we reached Farrum and realized that both bus rides we are suppose to take won't allow bikes. Thus, we had to as for directions, bike through the gorgeous countryside, and find our way back home to Hillerød!
Take into consideration that our bus ride is usually forty-five minutes and the bus takes us in the direction we need to go; Courtney and I managed to find our way back in a little over an hour with directions we got from Danes on the street!
(Quite the unexpected challenge)
Notice the sign: No bikes or motorcycles allowed.
AKA: Only bikes.
See why I picked Denmark? :)
Courtney says Barbie needs a Ken. I say why look for Ken when there is a Henerik!
Needless to say: I am high on life.
