Saint Petersburg, Russia

Well it's been some time, but I must make sure to have at least one blog post in December...so let's start with my trip to Saint Petersburg! I had been taking a Russian literature course all semester and was given the opportunity to go on a week long trip in Russia. We went to Saint Petersburg for four days and then took an overnight train to Moscow for the remaining three days. It was an experience that I could have never put together myself and one that I'll never forget. Take a look!

Through A Foggy, Snowy Lens

As my roommate Anne Randolph says, "I really shouldn't be that surprised that it is snowing, seeing that I live in Scandinavia and all." It has been snowing for five straight days and the snow reaches my knees walking around. Looking out the window I see trees sheeted in white, little European cars making way, and Danish bikers trucking as best they can up the icy roads. Narnia is our backyard. Yesterday our folkhojskole had a snowball fight and to say the least, it got cold.

A TAKful Thanksgiving

With my entire family going to the farm house for Thanksgiving, I was almost positive my Thanksgiving in Denmark couldn't compare. Although I missed the family, I couldn't believe how amazing my Thanksgiving truly was. On Thursday evening, Alison's husband came from Germany in a car filled with American food he brought from the American air force base. We pulled out the Thanksgiving decorations that my mom and Aunt Wende so graciously brought over and had a TAK(Thanks)giving feast! Homemade cranberry sauce, two 20 lb Turkeys, gravy, stuffing, salad, three types of homemade potatoes, corn, peas, green bean casserole, rolls, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, bread pudding, banana pudding, and plenty of Food babies.

The next evening our friend Pat invited Anne Randolph, Courtney, and I over to his host family's house for a second Thanksgiving that his host mom had prepared.
Things could not have gotten better.
